Michalowski, Wanda A (Pieculewicz). of West Roxbury and Falmouth, January 14, 2025 at the age of 101. Beloved wife of Stephen Michalowski (deceased). Mother of Stephen Michaels (Susan) of Naples, FL., Claudia DiMuccio (Kenneth) of Wellesley, Christine Thompkins-Michalowski (Bob Tompkins – deceased) of Milton, Claire Duggan (Frank) of Hyde Park, Mark Michalowski (Nancy) of Chestnut Hill and Diane Michalowski Freedland (Barry) of Sharon; sister to Stanley, Charley, Zenon, Claude, Alfred and Wally (all deceased); and loving “Grammy” to 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Wanda was born in 1923 in South Boston into a Polish immigrant family. Growing up with 6 brothers during the Great Depression, she became a fabulous cook and the matriarchal center of the family. In 1947, Wanda married Steve (from Dorchester). Together they raised 6 children in West Roxbury. In addition to caring for her large family, Wanda kept the books for Steve’s insurance business, Anawan Insurance Agency, which was initially run out of the living room of the family home. In later years, Wanda worked the counter at Hanley’s Bakery, selling brambles to most of West Roxbury. As grandchildren arrived, “Grammy” became the center of the larger extended family. Her honesty, common sense and compassion made her the person to seek for a Sunday coffee and chat. For many, many years, Grammy’s happy place was over the Bourne bridge in Falmouth where family spent many summer days creating lasting, shared memories. Grammy will spend eternity with Steve and special family members from The Greatest Generation “over the bridge” at the national cemetery in Bourne,
