Tisei, Virginia M.
Of West Roxbury, passed away November 10, 2022. Cherished daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (McManus) Tisei. Loving sister of Maureen, Kathryn and Richard Colvario, Ralph and Nancy Tisei, Joanne Tisei, and Richard Tisei. Beloved aunt of Patrick Colvario, Daisy Dallmeyer, Emily and Sol Jorge Moscol, Elizabeth and Daniel Roberts, Dennis Colvario, Maria Tisei, Fiona Fitzgerald and the late Liam Fitzgerald.She also leaves her beloved dogs, Raffi and Peggy Sue Lee. Beginning as a teacher in the Boston Public Schools, she became the Vice-President of the Boston Teachers Union. Virginia received her J.D. from New England School of Law and began her career as an attorney primarily focusing on labor relations. She worked for W.R.Grace and for the City of Boston: Consumer Affairs and Licensing, Director of Labor Relations, and Director of Labor Relations for the Boston School Department. During her tenure, Virginia was honored with the prestigious Gavin Award for her contributions to the labor relations community. Noted for her empathetic yet fierce tenacity for the welfare of her neighbors, Virginia served for many years on the West Roxbury Neighborhood Council as well as twenty-seven years on the Air Pollution Control Commission. Virginia was particularly dedicated to those citizens with developmental disabilities. She served as President of GBARC as well as a board member on the Massachusetts Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. For her work in this area, she was awarded the Greater Boston ARC President’s Award. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles River Center (Mountain House), 59 E. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday November 17, at 10:00 am in The Holy Name Church WEST ROXBURY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St West Roxbury on Wednesday November 16, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery
