Thomas (Tom) Peter Bianchi, 69, formerly of Londonderry, New Hampshire, passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital Boston.
Thomas was born on June 28, 1954 in Watertown, MA to the late Leonard and Mary (Schipani) Bianchi and his late brother Leonard Bianchi. He attended Watertown High School followed by Vesper George School of Art in Boston and then later UMass Lowell. He became a software engineer and worked for over 20 years with several companies. He traveled to many places for work in the United States and Canada.
After retiring as a Software engineer, he went back to his first love of art and started Woodburnng; a type of artwork where a burning tool is used on different wood canvases that he would afterwards paint using water colors. He was inspired by many places in New Hampshire and Massachusetts; covered bridges, landscapes, log cabins, and Bearskin Neck Rockport. He sold several pieces of his art work as well as had them displayed in the Leech Library in Londonderry, NH. His works were also shown in Portsmouth, N.H. as he was a member of the Portsmouth Art Society and entered his unique pieces in several art shows.
Some of Tom’s favorite past times include meeting up with his high school friends at Joe’s in Watertown for deli sandwiches. He liked hosting card game nights. He was an avid hockey player and golfer prior to his car accident that left him confined to a wheelchair. He loved attending antique car shows. His favorite restaurant to go to with his family was the Old Mill in Westminster, MA. He was a true Boston sports fan; avidly watching and attending many Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics games. He also enjoyed fantasy sports. He loved cooking and eating desserts his family made him; especially during the holidays. He had a passion for American History and Sherlock Homes Books. He loved TV shows and movies including Columbo, Law and Order, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. He was a lover of classic music such as the Oldies, Frank Sinatra, instrumental classical and The Phantom of the Opera.
More than anything else in the world, was the love he had for his family. He was a devoted and caring parter as well as father and “papa”. He is survived by the love of his life Patricia Bianchi of Winthrop, MA. Together they raised four children; Matthew Bianchi of California, Lauren Sorrentino of Winthrop, MA, Lindsay Scott of Londonderry, N.H. and Mariel Bianchi of Winthrop, MA. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to 8 grandchildren. He loved playing and drawing with his grand children, watching movies and surprising them with gifts.
Thomas will be cremated at Lawler & Crosby Funeral home in West Roxbury, MA. A Mass will be held on what would of been his 70th birthday June 28, 2024 at St. Anthony’s church in Revere, MA at 11am. Flowers maybe sent directly to the church.
