Theresa Egan Obituary

Theresa Patricia ‘Pat’ (Corrigan) Egan of West Roxbury, passed away at home on April 21, 2022. She was born in Brookline. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Joyce Corrigan and Patrick Corrigan of Ireland, her beloved husband of 43 years, William J. Egan, Jr., her treasured daughter, Carol, her sisters, Anne B. Coyne and Mary (Boudie) Hohmann and brother, Frank Corrigan. She  is survived by her children William Egan, III (Ann) of Taunton, Theresa Chamberlain (Kevin) of Jaffrey, NH, Anmarie  Petrycki (Stephen) of Raleigh, NC, Robert Egan (Kelly) of Norwood, Janet Curtin (Christopher) of West Roxbury, and her grandchildren, Kerry, Shawn, Christopher, Matthew, Jennifer, Stephen, Megan, Carolyn, great-grandchildren, Ida, Mads, Ayla, Abel, and nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from St Mary’s Elementary and High School in Brookline and received a BS degree in Child Life Specialty and Teaching from Wheelock College.

She was an active member of Saint Mary’s Church in Brookline where she served as President of the Mother’s Club and as volunteer secretary for the elementary school.  Later, she was actively involved at Holy Name Parish where she volunteered to help with the Band Association, served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, helped with C.Y.O., and was a founding member of the first Women’s Prayer Group at Holy Name Parish.

Children (and adults too!) were drawn to ‘The Egan House’ for Pat always made sure that they were welcomed, had fun, and had plenty of Congo bars, lemon cupcakes, and peanut butter cookies.

In honor of Carol, their daughter, Pat and Bill established and directed ‘Camp Carole’ for 25 years, to help children with cancer simply enjoy life. This foundation was funded through charitable donations and grants from local vendors, Walt Disney World, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, the Dana-Farber Fund, and many annual charity events. The heart of ‘Camp Carole’ was Pat and her positive attitude, loving disposition, and tireless 24-7 service which had a profound impact on the lives of everyone in the ‘Camp Carole Family.’

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Pat’s caregivers, especially, Karen Chico, Lauren Daniels, Geraldine Murray, and Marilyn Wall.
