Sara Allen Obituary

Sara (Wellin) Allen passed away surrounded by her immediate family on October 3, 2022 after an extended illness.

Sara was born in Boston but spent much of her youth in Milwaukee, WI, where she developed her Midwestern friendliness. She worked hard to finish high school in three years instead of four and left home soon after graduation to explore the United States, spending time in Colorado and San Francisco where she met her husband Bill. Sara and Bill moved to the small community of Lopez Island, Washington where Sara spent happy times, using her musical talents to sing and play the flute in a local band. Sara and Bill returned to Boston to be closer to family and settled in Roslindale, where they raised their two children. Sara worked for many years at United Way before retiring.

Sara was a caring mother, wife and friend and in recent years had great joy in becoming a grandmother. She loved playing and listening to music and enjoyed going to concerts throughout her life. She also loved reading, crossword puzzles, cards, the beach on Cape Cod and spending time with family and friends. She dealt with health challenges for many years, always with strength, selflessness, and good humor. Sara was a kind, thoughtful and gentle soul and will be missed dearly by many.

She is survived by Bill, her husband of 42 years, her son Scott and daughter Caitlin, and her grandson Jack. She also leaves behind her brother Chris and sister Susan.
