Ronald Ferrara Obituary

Ronald C. Ferrara, age 90, of Dedham, formerly of Roslindale, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2024.

Ron was born in South Boston. He was the beloved wife of Laura (Marinelli) Ferrara and the loving father of Ron and his wife Judy Ferrara of Wakefield and Mark and his wife Lois Ferrara of Florida. He leaves behind so many loving extended family members and friends.

The center of Ron’s life was his family. Ron fell in love with his beautiful wife, Laura, over 70 years ago. They met on a blind date to the movie, Saskatchewan. Ron knew right away Laura was the one for him! Two years later, Ron walked Laura down the church aisle to take her as his bride for life. In the next few years, they were blessed with two devoted sons, Ron and Mark and the wonderful family memories began.

Fatherhood was a perfect match for Ron. He was so proud to be a Dad. He loved spending time with his boys and spoiling them- especially at Christmas with toys galore. His sons adored him and could always rely on him for unwavering encouragement, thoughtful guidance and endless hugs-regardless of their age. When his sons married, he embraced his new “daughters” with the same love and affection. He was always there through all life’s smiles and tears for both his immediate and extended family.

Ron was a kind, gentle, and humble man with so many unbelievable talents. He danced like Fred Astaire, dressed like Ralph Lauren with the best polished shoes, hit a baseball like Joe Di Maggio, stenciled his home like Leonardo da Vinci, mapped out family vacations like the head of AAA and of course was the number one fan of Laura’s delicious homemade pasta and sweets.

Faith and prayer were powerful in Ron’s life. Both gave him courage, strength and gratitude for his life’s blessings and challenges.

Devotion to country meant so much to Ron also. While in high school, he was a cadet in the US Navy at Squantum Naval Air Station. Then he enlisted in the US Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir in Virginia as a company clerk for three years during the Korean War. He was an outstanding left-fielder on the Army Baseball Team and his first time at bat he hit a grand slam homerun. Upon discharge, he was recruited by the Philadelphia Phillies but decided to decline and return home to his family. During his lifetime, he was so honored to hold the title of “Army Veteran” and wore his Army baseball cap with such dignity.

Ron had a very accomplished career in the graphic arts industry starting in the printing department and rising up to an outstanding vice-president. Over the years, he also taught graphic arts and coached basketball at Don Bosco and was a well-loved baseball coach for the Hyde Park Little League.

Ron will be deeply missed and will truly live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

He was truly a one in a million

“All Star Man!”
