Richard T. Williams of West Roxbury, MA (known as ‘Jabone’ to many friends) died peacefully surrounded by family members. Son of the late John and Mary (Casey) Williams, loving husband of Kathleen (Kathy) (Makin) Williams. Beloved Dad to Rachel Williams, Michael Williams, Brian Williams and his wife, April. Loving brother to Judith Blumert, Elaine Carney, and the late Alfred (Ted) Williams. Fun-loving and loved uncle to many nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews and cousins.
Richard served as Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, 1966-1967 in Vietnam. He ran his own plumbing business for 11 years and then joined the Plumbers Union Local 12, Boston. Richard was a member of the Boston Lodge of Elks #10 and The Irish Charitable Society of Boston.
He and his wife enjoyed spending time in Shapleigh and Wells, Maine and many years of wonderful trips near and far with great friends.
In addition to the family friends and neighbors who offered loving support, the family wishes to express sincere gratitude to staff at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and to Care Dimensions Hospice Care.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday June 1, at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
