Richard Pina Obituary

Richard Valentino Pina, Age 62, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020 in Boston Massachusetts. Richard was born on December 21, 1957 in Boston, MA, the son of Carolyn Ambers & Ralph Pina. He being the 1st of their 7 children (5 boys & 2 girls). In 1975 while in his Junior year at Rindge Tech (Cambridge, MA), Richard enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served 4 years for his Country. He was Honorably Discharged as a Sargent in the Marine Corps.  He would always say, “Once a Marine, always a Marine...Hoorah!”

After his service in the Marines Richard met Victoria Greg. They had 2 children, a daughter Sharocka, who passed away after only 3 short months & a son Marquise Greg.

Richard was living his life, having fun and taking control of the streets with his brother Ralph Beach. During this time Richard met Sheila Giles and in 1985 they had a daughter Patricia Cepeda. Richard was not ready to settle down so he directed his attention to his Martial Arts training and deep meditation practices.  *It was well known that Tino with his nunchucks were a deadly combination*

In 1987 Richard married the love of his life Wanda Geer and he was also blessed to share this love with her two small daughters Sarita & Nida, who Richard considered his own.  In 1988 they welcomed a son, Richard V. Pina Jr.

Richard is survived by his children Marquise Greg, Patricia Cepeda, Nida Wright Adjetey & Richard V. Pina Jr; his siblings, Joyce E. Pina, Anthony L. Pina, Deserie Davenport-Walker, Derek M. Pina, Vincent M. Pina, Ralph Beach, Cathy Campos & Rashawn Ambers; his Daughter-in-law Traciana Barnes & his Son-in-law Theophilus N. Adjetey Jr; his Sister-in-laws Donna Pina, Terri Pina, Angela Pina & Candace Beach; his Brother-in-law Ervin Walker; His Grandchildren, Daviel Cepeda, Jace Cepeda, Isaac Cepeda, Jaylen Williams, Gabriel Adjetey, Cameron Pina, Caleb Pina, Storm Pina & “Baby Boy Pina on the way.” Richard has a total of 29 nieces, nephews, great nieces & great Nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother Carolyn J. Pina, his father Ralph J. Pina, his brother Ralph J. Pina Jr, His Daughters Sharocka Pina and Sarita Wright Lucas.

May you find peace in knowing that Richard “Tino” Pina died the way he lived: He wrote his own Rules; He fought authority and he paved his own way to Heaven’s Gate. He was the Protector of the “Damsel in Distress” & the Defender of the “Underdog.”  He was his Mother’s Son who would literally kill or be killed for his family.  He was strong, proud and a good Man. He will be missed by many.

Richard V. Pina was cremated & will be buried with full Military Honors on Friday, February 7, 2020 @ Massachusetts National Cemetery @ 1:00 PM. The Family is grateful and humbled by all of your condolences and we have but one request - that you make a donation in Richard’s name to a Cancer Research Foundation of your choice.

“I ached & yearned for that imaginary place, the one which I could breathe. Now I sit here with God, with nature beauty and astounding light; and now I feel like finally I can BREATHE!”  #LivingInHeaven
