Richard LeDuc Obituary

Richard F. LeDuc, 71, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 from complications related to COVID-19. Born in Worcester on October 19, 1949, Richard was the son of the late Norman T. LeDuc of Dartmouth and Anne C. (Rozenas) LeDuc of Connecticut.

Richard graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in 1968.  He served honorably as a Petty Officer in the Navy for six years before joining Sims Manufacturing of Rutland. During his 13 years at Sims, he worked as both an Engineering and Fabricating Department Supervisor. Beginning in 1986, Richard was a Project Manager and later, a Senior Application Engineer for Wolf Coach (L3 Communications) until his retirement in 2012.

Richard was particularly talented at being retired. He loved racing sailboats in Marblehead, traveling, dancing, and joining his friends for whiskey and cigar night every Wednesday. Truly a “jack of all trades,” Richard could build or repair nearly anything, from his family’s first home in Rutland to custom treehouses to pinewood derby cars to kitchen cabinets. Despite his mastery at bringing AutoCAD designs to life, he could always be counted on to lose a game of Scrabble.

A self-described “motorhead,” his teenage love of working on his ‘66 Chevelle aged into a love of driving his Stingray Corvette in the beautiful New England summer (and winter…).

Richard is survived by his girlfriend of eight years, Tracy Hinchey of Northborough; his daughter, Kristen Carr and husband, Patrick of Fort Worth, Texas; his son Brian F. LeDuc and fiancée, Grace Rieger of San Diego, California; a grandson, Grayson; and a nephew, Dax. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald N. LeDuc in 1999.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the youth sailing program at Regatta Point Community Sailing Club, 10 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA. Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of his life is planned for later this summer.
