Rev. John Hennessy C.Ss.R.

Rev. John Hennessy, C.Ss.R., of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Nov. 2, 2025 at age 98. Fr. Hennessy was ordained to the priesthood on June 21, 1953 and spent more than 50 years of his Redemptorist life as a missionary in Brazil. Returning to Boston Fr. Hennessy served as Rector of the Mission Church for 6 years and then continued to serve in Brazil and Boston until he was 94. Beloved son of the late John J. and Mary J. Hennessy. Loving brother of Mary P. O’Connor of Norwood and the late Eleanor, William, Frank and Charles Hennessy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at The Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, “The Mission Church”, on Saturday morning, Nov. 8, 2025 from 9:15 – 10:15am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Relatives and friends invited.  Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flower rembraces may be made to the Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St. Boston, MA 02120.
