Natalie Faith Barrett of Boston passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Roxbury on November 4, 1948, to the late Sybil and Stanley Barrett, Natalie was a proud lifelong resident of Boston. She was baptized at Eliot Congregational Church in 1949 and remained a dedicated Christian throughout her life. Natalie was a longtime and faithful member of Charles Street AME Church in Roxbury, where she participated in many church-sponsored travels and community events.
Natalie graduated from Girls’ High School, the only one among her siblings to complete high school, a fact that reflected her determination and attention to detail. She worked quietly but faithfully in service of her church, her family, and her community. Known for her calm presence and straightforward spirit, Natalie was reserved but never passive, she shared her thoughts with clarity, conviction, and love.
She had a special bond with her mother, Sybil, who offered free piano lessons to neighborhood children for many years. Natalie, her mother’s star pupil, carried that musical legacy with pride. She also enjoyed traveling, including cherished trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and specifically Jamaica with her niece Lorna, exploring her Jamaican linage and culture.
Natalie shared 55 loving years with her longtime partner and common-law husband, Edward Stuart, at their home across the street from the Boston Medical Center campus.
She is survived by her older brother Melvin Barrett, sister-in-law Brenda Barrett, nieces Lorna Barrett McCormick and Sybil Barrett, nephew Wali Barrett, and her beloved partner Edward Stuart. She was predeceased by her brother William A. Barrett. She also leaves behind her closest ties with the Yearwoods, Bobby, Judy, and Gloria, lifelong family friends.
Natalie will be remembered for her loyalty to family, steadfast faith, quiet wisdom, and unwavering sense of self. Her family finds comfort knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those she loved who went before her.
