Michaele Leahy, 81, of Roslindale, MA, passed away at home on August 27, 2025. She was born on April 5, 1944, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (O’Malley) Leahy.
Michaele is survived by her daughters, Laurena Rosenberg of Newton, MA, and Tanya (Kevin) Winchester of Waxhaw, NC; her grandchildren, Samantha and Shane Rosenberg and Christina and Sean Winchester; and her sisters, Sheila (Charles) Goldstein of Houston, TX, her twin, Maureen (the late Patrick) Lambe of Apex, NC, Kathleen (Richard) Koch of Cary, NC, and Marytheresa (Randy) Leahy-Herrera of Columbus, GA. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Michaele grew up in Amsterdam, NY, where she fondly recalled her childhood on the family farm and attending the Scotch Bush one-room schoolhouse in Florida, NY. As a teenager, she moved with her family to Pittsfield, MA, later graduating from St. Joseph’s High School before attending Bennington College in Vermont. Throughout her professional life, Michaele worked in both medical offices and the insurance industry.
A woman of strong will and fierce loyalty, Michaele lived life on her own terms. She was deeply devoted to her family, offering her love and support in countless ways. A perfectionist with an eye for beauty and detail, she enjoyed decorating her home, curating her father’s cut glass collection while adding her own treasured pieces, and collecting Hummels, Irish Belleek china, and Disney figurines. Over the years, she explored many crafts, including crewel embroidery and ceramics.
Michaele was especially known for her extraordinary cooking and hospitality. She delighted in preparing elaborate holiday feasts—complete with six courses and palate cleansers between dishes—as well as baking beautifully decorated Christmas cookies and creating hors d’oeuvres so artful and delicious that they rivaled those found in fine restaurants.
Michaele’s life will be honored with a Funeral Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Apex, NC. A private family committal service is planned for later this fall at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY.
She will be remembered always for her strength, creativity, and the love she gave to those around her.
