Mary Kathleen O’Malley, South Boston/Groton, MA, was unexpectedly called home to God on August 18, 2021 at the age of 29. So until we meet again, may God hold her in the palm of His hands.
Mary Kate was the beloved daughter of Kevin and Therese O’Malley, the loving sister to Anne, Patrick, Rose, and Joseph. The special niece to Drew and Mary, Grady and Charna, Eugene and Kathy, Mark and Jean O’Malley and Michael and Diana, William and Liz, Jim and Suzy, Tom and Simone, John and Jennifer, and Paul Kinsella, Mary and Nick Gerbich, Anne and Brad Blevins, Margaret and Mike McGinnis, and a sweet cousin to many. Preceding her in death are her Grandparents Charles and Mary Louise (Drew) O’Malley and Floyd and Nelle (Maher) Kinsella.

Mary Kate was born Dec 20, 1991 in Newton, MA. She graduated with a B.S. in nursing from Boston College in 2014 and an MSN in 2018. Mary Kate was devoted to her work at Cambridge Health Alliance as a labor and delivery nurse, where her fellow nurses served as her second family. She practiced her profound courage and selflessness through her work with the Boston SANE program. Mary Kate was a beautiful young woman, and to love and be loved by her was the sweetest gift of our lives. She was a compassionate, lively, fearless, and generous person who accomplished much in her life. She traveled the world with joy and independence. Mary Kate was proud of her Irish roots and loved her trip to Ireland. She celebrated Christmas every year with a party for family and friends, where she welcomed everyone she knew to share her deep love of good food and music. Mary Kate was a devout Catholic and attended both St Ignatius and Gate of Heaven faithfully.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, August 23 at 11am at St Ignatius followed by the burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
