          Age 95, on June 2, 2020.  Longtime resident of Holliston and Eastham, Mass. Born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Victor and Mary Sondich.  Beloved wife of the late Arthur Bukovich for over 65 years.  Beloved sister of the late Christine Kostel of Ogden Dunes, IN.  Loving mother of Joanna Dole of Natick, MA, Karen

Rymsha of Dartmouth, MA, Richard (Michele) of Tomball, TX, and John (Kelly) of Reading, MA.  Also survived by seven grandchildren: Monique, Christian, Andrew, Erika, Kimberly, Bridget, and Emily; and by six great-grandchildren: Gemma, Georgia, Fletcher, Drew, Adelyn, and Rory; her beloved sister Velma McShane; and by many nieces and nephews.

          Part of the Greatest Generation, Mary Ann and Arthur began their life together after WWII in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.  After Art finished college at UW and working life began, they moved to Minneapolis for several years before getting the opportunity to move East to New England.  There they found their dream home – an old farmhouse in (at the time) rural Holliston.  When not fixing up the old place, they explored the region by car and eventually discovered Eastham on Cape Cod.  There they made their summer home, which after many more years eventually became their retirement community.

          Before retirement arrived, however, Mary Ann worked for many years at the Wellesley College Department of Continuing Education.  There she was very proud of the role she played in helping women return to school, often at a later stage of life, to continue and complete their college education.  She always believed in the importance of higher education, which was a value she instilled in all of her children and grandchildren.

          In Holliston, she was an active member of the community.  As a volunteer, she loved working with the Garden Club and at St. Mary’s parish, where she helped teach CCD for many years.  Near the end of their working career, Mary Ann and Art returned to Milwaukee for five years and during this time Mary Ann served as a docent for the Milwaukee Art Museum.  In retirement, she continued to volunteer as a committee member of the Target View Beach Association in Eastham, and also wrote the only known history of the TVBA.

          Mary Ann had a great appreciation for the arts, including the visual arts, theatre, film, and music.  She also had a great eye for fashion, and using her considerable skill as a seamstress was able to reproduce many dresses featured in Vogue and other media of the day.  She also had a great appreciation and love for nature, which is also shared by so many of her children and grandchildren.  Mary Ann loved being outdoors, and so enjoyed taking daily walks and swimming in Cape Cod Bay as long as the season permitted.
