Marguerite McIntyre Obituary

Marguerite Louise “Peg” McIntyre passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and devoted caregivers. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, Peg touched the lives of many with her wisdom, humor, and selfless dedication to helping others.

Born on August 14, 1939, in Northbridge, Massachusetts, Peg was the eldest of three siblings. She graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing and began a lifelong career devoted to caring for others, especially the most vulnerable. It was during her time at St. Vincent’s that she met her beloved husband, Bob, with whom she shared 45 beautiful years of marriage.

Together, they built a large and loving family, raising nine children and welcoming 34 cherished grandchildren. Family was the center of Peg’s world. She believed deeply in staying connected and celebrating life’s milestones, both big and small. She created treasured traditions—Thanksgiving feasts, Christmas cookie baking, and summer clambakes—that will live on for generations. To Peg, gatherings were a time for sharing stories, strengthening bonds, and creating lasting memories.

As a mother, she was nurturing, generous, and unwavering in her love. Guided by her deep and abiding faith, she lived each day with purpose, love and quiet strength. She created a home where her children always felt supported, cherished, and safe. Her warmth extended beyond her immediate family to friends and all who entered her home—everyone was welcomed and loved as her own.

Peg was the loving mother of the late Dr Robert K McIntyre and his wife, Susan of Westwood; Kathleen Golden and her husband Timothy of Scituate; Helen Golden and her husband Peter of Scituate; Dr. Stephen McIntyre and his wife Dr. Gina Penaflor of Palm City, Florida; James McIntyre and his wife Maria of Mequon, Wisconsin; David McIntyre and his wife Kerry of Mansfield; Carolyn Mayen and her husband Gustavo Mayen, Esq., of Milton; Mary Garrett and her husband John Garrett, Esq., of Scituate; and Christopher McIntyre and his wife Jennifer of Cohasset.

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who became family. Your gentle care, patience, and compassion brought her great comfort and happiness. Special thanks to Patty, Deb, and Maria for their many years of devoted love and friendship. Peg loved you as one of her own.

Visiting hours will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood. Interment will follow at New Westwood Cemetery.
