NELLSON, Margaret Hogan (October 25, 1960 – August 13, 2022)
Needham/Wilmington, MA – Margaret Hogan Nellson, age 61, died at her home in Naples, FL on Aug. 13, 2022. Beloved wife of Thomas Nellson and daughter of William and Dorothea (Shea) Hogan, Margaret was born on October 25, 1960, the sixth of ten children. She grew up in Needham, MA, attending Needham’s St. Joseph School and graduating from Needham High School in 1978. She went on to graduate from Emmanuel College in 1982.
A staunch believer in hard work, Margaret began her career in one of Hood’s dairy plants in Charlestown, MA. It was here that she met the love of her life, Thomas C. Nellson. Tom and Margaret were married on September 11, 1983 and settled in Wilmington, MA.
She spent a highly successful career of over thirty years at HP Hood LLC, retiring as Vice President of Sales. During her time at Hood, Margaret mentored countless individuals, drove financial results in areas including direct store delivery and foodservice, and was a strong supporter of women’s leadership initiatives.
Yet, of all her many accomplishments, Margaret was proudest of her family. She is survived by her husband Thomas Nellson of Naples, FL. She is also survived by her children Thomas Nellson Jr. and David Derosier Jr. of Worcester, MA as well as Michelle and Nicholas Martel of Chelmsford, MA. She was the proud grandmother (“Mammy”) of Christian Burns. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Hogan Sullivan and her husband Jeremiah of Oquossoc, ME; William Hogan III and his wife Susan of Needham; Patricia Henry and her husband Michael of Chattanooga, TN; Joan Hayden and her husband Peter of Naples, FL; Brenda Shisslak of Westwood; Michael Hogan and his wife Elizabeth of North Andover; Daniel Hogan and his wife Denise Doherty of Westwood; and Jennifer Guinee and her husband Patrick of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by her brother-in-law David Kotler of Avon, CT as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Kotler, brother-in-law Robert Shisslak, and parents William T. and Dorothea Hogan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 1382 Highland Ave., Needham on Friday, August 26 at 11am. Visiting Hours from 4 to 7pm on Thursday, August 25 at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA.
