He was an Assistant Professor at Brandeis University, and then worked at Control Data Corporation and RDP, Inc. before joining MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory in 1984, where he worked for the rest of his career. He was predeceased by his father Werner and mother Katharina (née Z’graggen), and is survived by his wife Maléna; his daughter Diane Schneeberger and her husband Brian Snyder; his sister Madeleine Schneeberger; his brother-in-law Hans-Peter Straumann and sister-in-law Wanda Straumann and their children Daniel (Danzhu) and Nadine; his godson Markus Schneider; and his friend George Hand.
