Manfred R. Liedtke passed away January 1 in Boston. He was 88 years old. Manfred was a loving brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather and caring friend to those who knew him. He was known for being involved with the Boylston Schul-Verein (BSV) in Walpole, Massachusetts and the German Aid Society.
He was born on February 29, 1936 in Tapiau, Germany to Margarete and Reinhold Liedtke. He came to the U.S. in 1960 and earned a bachelor’s degree at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Manfred raised his family in Brockton, Massachusetts until 1996, when he moved to Boston and remained there until his passing.
Manfred was the devoted husband for 64 years of Helma S.W. Liedtke (von der Brelje); father of Rainer Liedtke and his wife, Yvonne, of Boston; grandfather of Isabella Liedtke of Boston;
brother of Helmut Liedtke of Germany; and uncle of Ralf Liedtke of Germany. He was preceded in death by his brothers Gert and Klaus; daughter Rosemarie; son Manfred; and granddaughter Jenna.
