Obituary

Lisa A. Gens, died September 7, 2023 after a long illness. Of Jamaica Plain and Humarock Beach, formerly of Haverhill, MA.

Survived by sister Marylouise Greene (Jim) of Jamaica Plain, brothers Philip of Jamaica Plain and Frank (Marcia) of Lexington, and sister-in-law Madeleine of Leyden. Also survived by nine loving nieces and nephews, seven grand nieces and nephews, and five dear cousins. Predeceased by parents Frank and Winifred, and brother Timothy.

Graduate of Girls’ Latin School. Attended George Washington University. Retired after 30 year career in financial services, including at USTrust and Merrimack Valley Credit Union.

Lisa’s life was built around her strong community of close friends and family. She was a one-person social network, regularly and loyally connecting with loved ones. Despite decades-long health challenges, she persevered with good humor - assisting her aging parents and her beloved brother Phil. Her example of care for others as she battled her own health challenges is her courageous legacy.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, on Wednesday September 13, at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Tuesday September 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.

Donations in Lisa’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or Lupus Foundation New England.
