Konstantinos Triantafilopoulos

It is with great sadness that the family of Konstantinos Triantafilopoulos announce his passing on Saturday, September 17, 2022  at the age of 90 surrounded by his loved ones.

He will be remembered by his wife of 58 years, Dimitra; children: George Triantafilopoulos and Theodora (Blake)  Abbenante; Grandchildren: Ava and Luca Abbenante; surviving brother: Argirios Triantafilopoulos; and numerous other family members, friends, and neighbors.

Kostas and Dimitra left Greece in 1964 in hopes of building a better life for his family, starting in Canada and making their way to the United States. In true immigrant fashion, they arrived in the U.S. with nothing more than grit and a strong work ethic. They managed to turn nothing into something, realizing his goal of living the American dream by owning and running a restaurant for over 21 years, starting with his first diner,  Highlands Restaurant, in Newton Highlands.  But his legacy is defined simply by the successes of his children. His proudest role was as an adoring grandfather to his beloved Ava and Luca. 

When he finally relented to retirement at the youthful age of 74, he enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren, family, and friends. Despite the hardships of his youth, he enjoyed reminiscing about the "old country" he left behind, always searching for a captive audience for his elaborate storytelling. A perfect afternoon for Kostas entailed sitting on his front porch playing with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, and funeral service at 12:30 p.m.; both at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church located at 39 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale, MA 02131.

Burial shall be at The Gardens Cemetery Gethsemane located at 67 Baker Street, Boston, MA 02132 and shall take place after the church services.

Konstantinos's family would like to invite every one to The West on Centre Restaurant, 1732 Centre St. West Roxbury, following the committal prayers at the cemetery. Parking is available in the funeral home parking lot.
