Kin Chung 1949-2024
Known affectionately as "Kenny King", Kin wore his nickname with pride, not because of fame or fortune, but because of the relationships he built in Hyde Park. Whether you were a lifelong neighbor or a first-time diner, Kenny made you feel seen, heard, and cared for. His advice to young people was always the same: “Get your education, because no one can take that from you.” It was a message born from his own journey, and he delivered it with both conviction and kindness.
Kenny's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was the devoted husband of Joana, his partner in life and love for over 40 years. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, perseverance, and boundless affection. He was the proud father of Diane, Joanne, and Kenny, each of whom carries his indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to family. His six grandchildren—Vera, Jocelyn, Colin, Kira, Mila, and Kamea were the lights of his life, and nothing brought him more happiness than seeing them thrive.
In the kitchen, at the restaurant, or simply walking through Hyde Park, Kin left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His life reminds us that success isn’t measured by wealth or accolades but by the lives we touch and the love we give. Kin believed in hard work, shared meals, and the strength of community.
As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, let us honor his memory by living as he did—with a generous heart, a joyful spirit, and an open door for all.
Kin, your laughter, your cooking, and your steadfast presence will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.
Rest easy, Kin, and thank you for all the love you poured into this world.
