MCGILLICUDDY, Kevin J. died peacefully on November 12, 2023 surrounded by his family after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia (LBDP) at the age of 84. 

Kevin is survived by his wife of 59 years Nancy (Anne Marie Roddy).  He was the loving father to his five children: Irene and Kevin O’Reilly of Plymouth MA, Kevin and Eileen McGillicuddy of West Roxbury MA, Lee Vaughan of West Roxbury MA, Patrick and Jaye McGillicuddy of Melrose MA, and Megan and Brian Lavin of Melrose MA. Kevin was the proud grandfather of Colin and Tim Connolly, Shaelyn Bouchard and Adam O’Reilly; Molly, Charlie, Kevin and Rose McGillicuddy; Jack, Grace and Mick Vaughan; Maeve, Ella and Roddy McGillicuddy; and Cormac and Joey Lavin.  Great-grandfather of Mia, Lilly and Lincoln O’Reilly and Brooks Bouchard. 

He was the loving brother of the late Paul McGillicuddy and his wife Elieen of New Jersey, the late Neil McGillicuddy and his wife Betty of Florida, Bob and Mary McGillicuddy of Winchester MA, Mary Whitney of Milton MA and Irene and the late Paul Desharnais of Jamaica Plain.  He was the loving brother-in-law of Thomas and Eileen Roddy of Dartmouth MA, Patricia and the late Ernie Etling of West Roxbury, MA, Bill Roddy and Judy Lowry of Barton VT, John and Patty Roddy of West Roxbury MA, Jimmy and Gayle Roddy of West Roxbury MA, Charlie and Chris Roddy of St. John U.S.VI, Judy and the late Gerry Roddy of West Roxbury MA, Chris and the late Paul Roddy of Ashland, MA, and Noreen Roddy of Naples, FL.  Kevin is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Kevin was a long-time resident of West Roxbury/Roslindale, spending his retirement years between Naples, FL and Marshfield, MA.  Kevin graduated from St Mary’s High School of Brookline and was a member of the Boston College class of 1964.  After college Kevin was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the US Army stationed at Fort Sill OK.  After serving his country Kevin obtained his CPA and had a successful career in banking.

Kevin was an avid golfer with three holes in one and multiple wins in the always competitive Brant Rock Invitational Tournament.  He was a member of the Charles River Country Club for many years, followed by Marshfield Country Club and Pelican Marsh Country Club in his retirement years.

In his free time Kevin enjoyed woodworking and his family has cherished pieces of furniture and whirly-gigs proudly displayed in their homes.

Kevin was a humble man known for his generosity, donating his time and talents to Habitat for Humanity, Guadalupe Social Services and Holy Name Church.

Kevins favorite days were on his deck in Marshfield entertaining the extended McGillicuddy and Roddy families.

The McGillicuddy family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial gift send a donation, in his name, to the Golf for All Box 81246, Wellesley, MA 02481 or Rose’s Bounty, 77 Stratford Street West Roxbury MA 02132. Funeral arrangements are by Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre Street West Roxbury. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the funeral home on Thursday November 16 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 17 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury.
