Kathryn Foley Obituary

FOLEY, Kathryn M. “Kathy” (MacKinnon) of Roslindale, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with Interstitial Lung Disease.

Kathy was born in Boston on June 14, 1955, the proud daughter of her late incredibly loving and nurturing parents, Patricia A. “Pat” (Leary) and Robert S. “Bob” MacKinnon. Kathy was the beloved former wife and best friend of the late Stephen Foley.

Loving and devoted mother of Marguerite Savickas and her husband Richard of Walpole, Stephen Foley and his wife Elisabeth of Walpole, Kerryann Foley of Boston, and Patricia Jean-Pierre and her husband Julian of Roslindale. Adored grandmother “Glamma” of Grace, Stephen Jr., Sara, Nova, and Nolan.

Cherished sister of Jim MacKinnon and his wife Deb of Newburyport, Pat Roth of Norwood, Joan Gainey and her husband Tom of Holbrook, Roberta "Bobbi" McCarron of Nashua, NH, Mary Sheehan and husband Rob of West Roxbury, Michael MacKinnon and his wife Susan Marie of Easton, Karen Straehle and her husband Mike of Norwood, Joseph MacKinnon and his wife Leslie of Hyannis, and John "Jake" MacKinnon and his wife Eileen of Brookline. Kathy is also survived by many loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Kathy was raised in West Roxbury where she made many lifelong friends. She attended St. Claire High School in Roslindale. Inspired by many loving relationships with elder family and friends, she pursued her true calling to support seniors and earned her bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She was the Executive Director of Springhouse Senior Living Community in Jamaica Plain until her retirement in 2021. Prior to her time at Springhouse, Kathy served seniors at Youville House in Cambridge and Goddard House in Brookline. Her passion for eldercare extended beyond work hours, and she could often be found playing cribbage or visiting with previous residents, friends, or family members at various assisted living or memory care units throughout the Greater Boston Area. Kathy’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on through the many wonderful caretakers she mentored and worked alongside, impacting many generations to come.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Robert J.
