Katherine Dibble died March 13, 2024.
Born and raised in Granite Falls, MN, she graduated from Yankton College and then served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines for two years. Upon returning, she obtained a master's degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin. She moved to Boston to work at the Boston Public Library where she held a variety of positions, retiring in 2003 as Director of Public Services. Governor Mitt Romney appointed her to the Massachusetts Board Of Library Commissioners and she served there for several years; including two years as chair.
Katherine was active in several volunteer organizations, including the Boston Chapter of the Women' s National Book Association, Massachusetts Friends of Libraries; the Boston Women's Heritage Trail and activities at Springhouse in Jamaica Plain where she lived the last few years. She enjoyed traveling, the Red Sox and especially the companionship of her many friends.
She is survived by her brother, Edwy Olds Dibble, her sister in law, Darlene, her nephews Douglas, wife Tricia, Bradley, wife Teresa, and Mark, wife Jennifer, and seven grand nieces and nephews, and her special cousin, Ardella Draheim.
No service is planned. Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.
