Joseph Kelly Obituary

Joseph T. Kelly, 95, of West Roxbury passed away of Covid-19, on May 26, 2022. The beloved husband of the late Lois A. (Putnam), and son of the late Thomas and Maryanne Kilkelly both of County Galway, Ireland.  Adored Father of Sheila Lynch and her husband Brian, of Milton, Jeanne Brown and her husband Dana of West Roxbury, Paul Kelly and his wife Regina of Andover, Moira O’Brien and her husband Barry of Westwood, & Peter Kelly of New York City. Loving brother of Sr. Barbara Kelly, (SCH) and the late Tom, Mary, Rita, John, & Margaret. Beloved grandfather of Devin and his wife Catherine, Myles, James, Shamus, Colin, Kristina, Terence, Michael, Nina, Fiona & Quinn. He will be missed by many loving nieces and nephews.

Joe was a true Bostonian, having grown up in Dorchester and settling in West Roxbury where he raised his family. A member of Operating Engineers Local 4 for over 71 years he oversaw the construction of many of the skyscrapers that now dot the Boston Skyline. 

  Joe served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and is a member of Amvets American Legion Post 76 in Jamaica Plain at Forest Hills.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Friday June 3 starting at 8:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Church,311 Bowdoin St. in Dorchester at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home Friday morning from 8:30 am to 10:15 am.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rose’s Food Bounty, Stratford St. United Church, WestRoxbury or Bikes not Bombs, 284 Amory St. Jamaica Plain.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
