Joseph Walsh Obituary

Walsh, Joseph John,

Of Dennis Port, formerly of West Roxbury, June 9, 2024,
at 72 years of age. The beloved son of the late Dr. Francis X. Walsh and Mary Elizabeth (Kelly) Walsh.

Grandson of the late John J. Kelly, of Tullemore, and Mary (Waldron) Kelly, of Roscommon, Ireland before immigrating and settling in Roslindale.

Cherished brother of Mary Francis Walsh of Florida, Marian C. (and the late Judge Paul V. Buckley,) of Boston and Dennis, Teresa Walsh, (John) of Hull, Madeleine McGuire, (Kevin) of East Taunton, and the late
James, Francis, John, and Paul Walsh. Joseph is survived by loving nephews and friends,
and Aunts, Sister Clare Kelly, S.N.D of Worcester, and Christina Carty of Mansfield.

Joe was graduated from Boston English High School Class of 1970, where he was elected to the student council, and was “Part- Time Salesman of the Year at the Radio Shack in the Dedham Mall.
Joe attended Cape Cod Community College and served in the United States Navy.

Joe cherished his devoted parents and siblings, and was a proud and grateful American with deep patriotism for our country and a rich and abiding Catholic faith.

Joe loved nature, the ocean, music, especially the classical music station, 107.5, and was an accomplished swimmer.
Joe loved cats, dining at the Hyannis Yacht Club, sailing, walking, singing, drawing, the New York Post and Daily News, yet, nothing more than enjoying family and friends.
Joe’s special spirit of joy and gratitude was experienced by each person who knew him.

Joe enjoyed his childhood summers on Lewis Bay and Grays Beach, his paper route with 38 customers, and his summers as a Yarmouth Life-Guard.

Joe lived his life with “peace, prayer and patience” as he battled, with courage and grace a long term neurological disease, a late in life blindness, and recently succumbed to an aggressive cancer.

Special thanks to the Group Home community of Cape Cod, and to the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod, and the McCarthy House, for their remarkable, care of Joseph as he entered eternal life.
