Jeannette Ziegler Obituary

Jeannette L. Ziegler, age 94, passed away peacefully on 10/5/25. She was born on July 5, 1931, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Ella and Omer Lozier and was raised as a Catholic with five brothers and two sisters. Her mother was born and raised in Canada prior to becoming a United States citizen. Her father, a twin, was born in Vermont.

While in high school Jeannette met Edward Ziegler at a roller-skating rink and eventually married him at 19. During their 74 years of marriage, they raised two daughters in Natick, Wellesley, and Cape Cod. Although Jeannette did not have a college degree, she valued education for women. She was a dedicated wife who encouraged her two daughters, Laurene and Paula, to pursue their aspirations and dreams. Jeannette was proud to see her daughters obtain their PhD and pursue rewarding careers. She worked as a waitress at an exclusive Women’s College Club in Boston, Massachusetts in high school and learned early on about the importance of education, etiquette, fashion, fine food and the finer things in life. Jeannette always put family first, and being a great cook, loved to entertain them on holidays.

Jeannette was an avid Catholic especially being a survivor of cancer at age 25. Her courage and energy carried through everything she did in life. She often said, “Do as much as you can as long as you can.” Jeannette helped her husband pursue his career as a hairdresser and eventually established his own business, Capris Hair Salon. Jeannette encouraged Ed to make the transition to work for a family business, Construction Specialties, located in Randolph, Massachusetts. Jeannette had a mind for numbers and worked as a bookkeeper. She had fond memories of working for Windsor Press in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Jeannette always had a passion for life. As a senior in her 70’s and 80’s she became an avid ballroom dancer, sailor, and world traveler. They visited many places in the world, even the remote Australian Outback at age 83. In later years Jeannette and Edward became “Snowbirds”, spending summers in Cape Cod and winters in Clearwater, Florida.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Paula and Laurene, her brother Richard Lozier, and her devoted pup Sebastian. She also has over 11 nieces and nephews. She had a significant impact on the lives of her family and connected with all walks of life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th, 10:00am-11:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00-12:00, both taking place at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 245 Dory Passage, Clearwater Beach, Florida.  Jeannette will be laid to rest, next to her dear husband, Edward, on Wednesday October 15th at 11:00am at The Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in Boston, Mass.
