Jeanne Berthiaume Obituary

Jeanne A. Berthiaume, 80, of West Roxbury, passed away of natural causes at her home on May 5, 2022. The beloved wife of the late Walter A. Berthiaume of Newton, daughter of the late William F. McDonald Sr. and Alice L. (Raimo) McDonald of West Roxbury, loving mother to Christopher M. Berthiaume and his wife Wendy, Daniel E. Berthiaume and his wife Julie, and “Nana” to her grandchildren David, Caroline, Samantha, and Sydney. Jeanne was predeceased by her brothers Thomas A. Scott and William F. McDonald Jr.

Jeanne was a true Bostonian, having grown up in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury.  She first settled in Hyde Park when she married her husband Walter, then moved to Newton with Walter and their two small children, before finally moving back to the house her father built during her teenage years in West Roxbury. She was also a true caretaker, delighting in hosting huge holiday get-togethers for Thanksgiving and Christmas (and even day-after Thanksgiving leftovers), and selflessly devoting herself to her family. Perhaps her most cherished role was that of “Nana” to her four grandchildren she doted upon and spoiled without reservation.

After many years as a homemaker, Jeanne re-entered the workforce when she accepted a position as receptionist at Dynamic Healthcare Technologies, where coworkers and customers alike were continually impressed with her soothing voice and kind, pleasant demeanor. After taking her well-earned retirement, Jeanne devoted herself to family (including caring for her youngest brother and mother through terminal illnesses), reading, relaxing, watching two of her favorite channels – QVC and Hallmark Channel, and possibly shopping for the “occasional” outfit, pair of shoes, jewelry, or kitchen appliance.

Visiting hours in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Friday May 13, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Interment Newton Cemetery.

Donations in Jeanne’s name can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
