Jane Johnson Obituary

Jane Tatham Johnson, a resident of Goddard House in Brookline, MA, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 87. At the time of her passing she was also a patient of Hebrew Senior Life Hospice. Both of her teams provided exceptional care, and her family is so grateful.

The second daughter of Arthur Edward and Angela Bolas Tatham, Jane was born on June 28, 1937, and grew up in Glencoe, Illinois.

Jane graduated from New Trier High School, in Winnetka, IL, and the University of Wisconsin in 1959. After college she worked as an English teacher until the first of her 3 daughters was born. Her love of language, books and writing lasted throughout her life. Before moving to Brookline, Jane was a long-time parishioner of Glencoe Methodist Church and found comfort and friendship in the study group there. Jane also had many lifelong friends, whom she loved and for whom we are so grateful and will continue to cherish.

Jane was married to her high school sweetheart, Ward Martin (Marty) Johnson for 35 years, and they raised their 3 girls in Fox Point, Wisconsin, and Glencoe, Illinois.

Jane is survived by her three daughters, Catherine Johnson MacKinnon (David) of Brookline, MA, Susie Johnson Harrington (Colin) of Barrington, RI and Sarah Johnson Rogers (Steve) of Santa Monica, CA. She was the loving grandmother of Lily, Isabel and Angus MacKinnon, Emily, Joe and Maeve Harrington, and Maxine, Tessa and Theo Rogers.

Jane was also devoted to her nieces and nephews, Molly, Sam and Daniel Brewton, and Lindsey Tatham Finch, Lisa Tatham Flynn and Alex Tatham. Jane was predeceased by her sister, Judith Tatham Brewton and brother John Tatham.
