George Castonguay

Castonguay, George, age 90 of West Roxbury died peacefully at home under the care of his loving daughter Pauline and his compassionate home health aide Amanda.

He was born on November 17, 1930, in Boston, Massachusetts. He met and married the love of his life Eleanor Ring Castonguay. They had 60 short years together before her passing in 2009. He always said if you’re married to the right person life is too short. George was a legend in the sign business for over 40 years. He worked on many signs from Maine to Connecticut, signs like Bradlees to the famous iconic “Citgo” sign.

Upon retiring when he wasn’t working on projects around his home, he liked to spend time at Ocean Point Maine with his wife. He was an avid model airplane & ship builder. His model of the Motor Lifeboat 44347 is proudly displayed at the Coast Guard Station in Boothbay Harbor Maine.

George is survived by his children Patricia Castonguay of Hyannis, Pauline Castonguay of West Roxbury, Richard Castonguay of Westwood, and Keith Castonguay of Ohio.

He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; He was the brother of Theresa Gallagher of Arizona and Irene Mienscow of Walpole. Predeceased by his two brothers Joseph and Ernest Castonguay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Proud late member of Local 391 Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades International. Past member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
