Elvira Odalia Moncayo Gaibor a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully on March, 15, 2025. Born in San Miguel, Ecuador in 1933 to Felicia Gaibor and Rene Campana; she came to the Boston area in 1967. With her beloved late husband Jesus Manuel Moncayo, they purchased a home in Roslindale, which they lived in for over fifty years.
Soon after coming to the United States, she began working at John Hancock Life Insurance Co as an Accounting Clerk. She proudly worked there for over 25 years and a favorite memory of hers was participating in an employee fashion show where she modeled her very own sewing creations.
Throughout the years, she gifted her tailoring abilities to many family and friends. Along with her talent in sewing, she had quite the green thumb and was a fantastic cook, especially with her traditional dishes from Ecuador.
Elvira, Tia Elvira, Elvirita, Bia was known to her family and friends as a beautiful, classy woman with a generous heart. Her love for her family and friends was always a priority and she will be greatly missed.
She leaves behind her daughter and husband, Laura and Carlos Bayona; her grandchildren, Omar, Marisol and Christopher; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren, also numerous loved nieces, a nephew and friends.
Funeral from The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Saturday March 22, at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Friday March 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment St. Michael Cemetery
