Elaine M (Embleton) McAlear

Elaine M. McAlear 1939 – 2025

Elaine Mary McAlear died June 13, 2025. Born in Boston, MA in 1939 to Wilfred and Frances Embleton, Elaine married Thomas J. McAlear in 1961 after graduating with a degree in education. In her more than 30 years as a teacher in the City of Boston, Elaine taught hundreds of first-grade children to read and do math. Her skill as an elementary math teacher was recognized by the state of Massachusetts, and in retirement, she trained other teachers all over the country.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Thomas and is survived by her brother George and sons Thomas and Robert, as well as her 4 beloved grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her friendliness, sense of humor, and strength of character will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on July 9th at 9 am at Saint Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Hanover, MA.
