Edward Ronald Janelle passed away Thursday September 3, 2020 with his daughter at his side. Edward was born in Dover, New Hampshire to Eugene and Madeline (Nealand) Janelle on January 3, 1947. He attended Dover and Rochester New Hampshire schools. Edward enlisted in the US Navy on December 31, 1964 and was discharged honorably on April 14, 1965.
Edward was known to his friends and family as Ed, Eddie and Horse. He was a volunteer firefighter with the North Berwick Fire Department for many years. Ed held many occupations throughout his life. He especially enjoyed being a taxi driver and meeting new people. Ed enjoyed going to baseball games and outings with his fellow veterans in Boston. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. Edward took pride in celebrating over 20 years of sobriety.
Edward is predeceased by both of his parents and many aunts and uncles. Edward is survived by his daughter Julie Janelle and his grandchildren Joshua Vogel II, Ava Vogel, and Matthew Rogers all of Sanford Maine. Three brothers Charles Janelle of Barrington, NH; Daniel and his wife Joanne Janelle of Rochester, NH; and Joseph Janelle of Dover, NH. Ed also leaves behind two nephews James Newcomb and Jonathan and his wife Jolyn Janelle and their children from Barrington, NH.
Ed’s daughter would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center. The medical staff in the MICU gave my Father exceptional care and tremendous support to myself during this difficult time. A special thanks to Dr. Rossi and Dr. Pollock and the other doctors for amazing care to my Father. To the nurses Marissa, Maggie, Mary, Becca and Katie I am so thankful for the care my dad received and the support for me. Also would like to send a thank you to Dr. Nathan, Kathy and the rest of the Palliative care team at the hospital for the support and care for my Dad.
Services are still pending at this time and will be determined at a later date.
