Doris Jennings, was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all over her incredible 97 years of life.
She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, November 22nd 2022.
Doris Jennings was born in Georgetown, Guyana on May 14, 1925 to Amelia and Limo St. Jules who were citizens of St. Lucia, West Indies.
The oldest of 2 children, she grew up in Georgetown, Guyana where she married Dr. Fitz Herbert Jennings and gave birth to her five loving children.
Fitz Gerald Collymore, Violanty Hurst, June Ann Jackson, Amber Kamara and Roxanne Moore.
While raising her five children on her own, Doris worked extremely hard many hours each day to provide for her family. Her work ethic was extremely admirable. Doris worked many jobs,
with only an elementary school education, to ensure she could provide food, shelter and clothing for all of her children. And although at times they did not have much, their home
was always filled with love and as siblings her children always stuck together.
When her eldest son, Fitz Gerald Collymore, left home at the age of 19 to migrate to America in
September of 1970 he would later ensure his sisters and mother were able to join him. Doris
migrated to the US on June 14th, 1974 and would spend the rest of her life exploring and living
in many states all the way from Florida to Rhode Island, Michigan, St. Croix, Massachusetts,
Texas and everywhere in between. In her retirement, Doris was extremely fortunate to be able
to travel to many places across the US, Mexico and the Caribbean with her son and her grandchildren.
Doris spent the final years of her life living in Boston, Massachusetts where she
was able to spend time with her daughters who helped to care for her until she passed.
Doris will be cremated and laid to rest on Saturday, November 25th 2022 at the Robert J. Lawler &
Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Doris will truly be missed by her family members and
friends, as she was a light and inspiration to all.
