Daniel Wulk Obituary

"Daniel Joseph Wulk, 79, of Walpole, MA, passed away peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA on May 18, 2023. He was born to Marvin and Dorothy (nee Hoecherl) Wulk on May 2, 1944 in Milwaukee, WI. He was married to Jane (nee Breiding) Wulk.

Danny (as he was known in his younger years) spent his formative years in Edgar in Marathon County, WI and he played baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates Farm League as a catcher. He was raised in the Catholic faith and he served as an altar boy.

Danny served his country in the U.S. Navy, on board the U.S.S. Hammerberg during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer, Second Class. He and his wife Jane attended many of his ship’s annual reunions always held in a different location in the country, most recently in 2021. One year, Danny and Jane hosted the event in the Boston area.

After his military service, Danny stayed in the Boston area and married Josephine Squadrito Wulk and the couple had two daughters Michele and Janine. Danny worked at the Prudential Center in downtown Boston, where he later met his second wife, Jane Breiding.

Danny and Jane later moved to Wausau, WI and they became the proud owners of Leo’s Tavern and restaurant in Wausau, WI before returning to the Boston area in 1987 to be closer to Danny's daughters.

He continued his career, and took on more training for his employment in HVAC facilities at the Prudential Center in Boston, MA, from where he retired.

Danny had a passion for sports, particularly cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was an active participant in various recreational activities, excelling in softball and bowling, where he amassed an impressive collection of trophies. Danny liked to take road trips on vacations and to show off his beloved state of Wisconsin to his daughters and friends.

Known for his amiable nature, Danny was the epitome of friendliness, and his quick wit brought joy to those around him. He had an infectious smile and laugh. He was cherished by his entire family and endeared himself to everyone he encountered. Danny was sentimental, thoughtful and compassionate, despite his quiet exterior. He carefully made scrapbooks chronicling his life through high school and his military service and his relationship with his godchildren. He was a practical joker who loved to make his friends laugh.  Danny was a loving man with a big heart. He was a caring husband to his wife Jane for 50 years. Danny was loving and very generous to his granddaughter Caitlin.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jane Wulk (nee Breiding), his two daughters, Michele and Janine from his first marriage, his two granddaughters Caitlin and Ga'alyah, of whom he was very proud, his two brothers John (Linda) and Tom (Robin), his sister Joyce Louviere, his brother in-law John Breiding (Elynor), and a host of nieces and nephews including Brad, Brian, Aaron, Erica, Nicole, Bruce, Todd, Michael and Sarah Wulk and Katherine Breiding and Brett Juchem.

While of no relation, Dan was beloved by the Hoffman family of CT, who considered him a brother and an uncle. They often took vacations together and supported each other through difficult seasons of life.

Dan’s brother James (Linda) predeceased him.

Danny will be deeply missed and his memory will be treasured forever by those who were blessed enough to have been his family and friend.”
