Charity Mackie Obituary

WEST HARTFORD, CONN. - Charity “Chatt” Lumayno Mackie - beloved wife, daughter, niece, sister and friend - died Feb. 10, 2021 at Massachusetts General Hospital from complications following a double-lung transplant.

She was born in the Philippines on Jan. 4, 1984 to Cecilia and Ismael Lumayno.

Chatt came to the United States in September 2019 and married Adam Mackie in a civil service in October. The convalidation of their marriage was celebrated at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Hartford, Conn., on Sept. 5, 2020. Among the blessings of that day was being cheered by riders on a city bus who saw her in her wedding dress.

She was predeceased by her father, Ismael Lumayno, and baby sister Maria.

She is survived by her husband, Adam Mackie, of West Hartford, Conn., her mother, Cecilia Lumayno of the Philippines, parents-in-law Dede and Dan Mackie of West Lebanon, N.H., sister-in-law Laura Mackie of Holyoke, Mass., many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was godmother to more than 20 children.

Chatt easily won many hearts by her beautiful smile, sparkling sense of humor and her fun sense of adventure. She was a talented photographer and blogger, and had worked as a photographer for the Philippine Golf Tour. She was a deeply committed Catholic whose faith informed her life.

A private funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at 8 a.m. EST.  Due to Covid-19 protocols, the Mass will be streamed; connection details can be found on the church’s website: https://www.spsact.org/.
