Barry Gleken Obituary

Dr. Barry Gleken, aged 77, passed away on Tuesday June 4th after a long illness.  Dr. Gleken was a man of great dedication, compassion, and intellect, leaving behind a legacy of service and love for learning.

Barry was a proud alumnus of Boston Latin High School, where he developed his love for learning and his lifelong passion for reading. He pursued higher education at Boston University for three years, where he demonstrated exceptional academic prowess, leading to his early acceptance into the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Dental School.

Upon completing his dental degree, Dr. Gleken dedicated his skills to serving the community as a dentist with the US Public Health Services. His commitment took him to a Native American reservation in Arizona, where he provided much-needed dental care and built lasting relationships with the community.

After his tenure with the Public Health Services, Dr. Gleken returned to Massachusetts, where he practiced dentistry for many years. His gentle demeanor, expertise, and genuine care for his patients earned him a reputation as a beloved and trusted healthcare provider.

Outside of his professional life, Barry was an avid reader who found joy in exploring a wide range of literature. His love for music, particularly jazz, was well known among his friends and family.

Barry was devoted to his life partner Kathryn Lennon who has been by his side for 25 years.  He leaves behind a son, Adam Gleken, a sister, Judith Millman of Foxboro, sister-in-law Barbara Gleken (Canton) and his nephews and their families, Craig Millman (Kimberley) of Georgetown and Randall Millman (Lea) of Sacramento, and Scott Gleken (Las Vegas).  He has been predeceased by his parents Harold and Dorothy Gleken, as well as his brother Marvin Gleken and nephew Steven Gleken.

Dr. Barry Gleken's life was a testament to the values of education, service, and passion. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, patients, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to the field of dentistry and his compassionate service to the community will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
