Audrey L. (Prince) Hale, July, 16 1929-July 29, 2024
Formerly of Lexington, MA, recently from Peabody, MA
Passed peacefully, loved by many.
Daughter of (deceased) Stella Eunice Purdy Prince and Elwin Prince.
Audrey devoted her life to her husband, Norman B. Hale, family, friends and Tufts University.
Every life she touched was enhanced in extraordinary ways.
Audrey attended Fisher College and then went to work at Tufts University for 47 years,14 years as Assistant Provost. During that time she served on many committees, was a host family with Norman for International students and the Fletcher Host Family program. When she retired in 1995 the Audrey L. Hale award was established at Tufts in her honor.
Audrey traveled the world where her adventures became stories to share and of course! made more friends. Norman had a map on the wall marking with pins all the places Audrey had traveled.
Audrey loved and was devoted to her family. Her best friend was her mother who she cared for with love and devotion. Her siblings always knew how much she cared for them. To all her nieces and nephews there was no one quite like Aunt Audrey. Birthday outings, school projects, tea at the Ritz, she was the Auntie Mame all children should have in their lives. Each niece and nephew was made to feel uniquely special.
Audrey is survived by her remaining sisters Janet E. Murphy of Wakefield, MA and Vera J. Hase of Haverhill, MA. Many nieces and nephews and friends she brought into the family fold.
So very loved and will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in the fall
