Anne Conroy Obituary

Anne Marie (McLellan) Conroy of West Roxbury passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

The youngest child of Nora (Hartnett) and John McLellan, Anne grew up in the Mission Hill section of Roxbury and was a proud graduate of Mission Church High School. She married the love of her life, John Conroy, in 1966, and moved to Roslindale, where they raised their five children in a house filled with love and laughter. They later moved to West Roxbury, where she remained until her death.

Anne worked for many years at the MBTA as an administrative assistant in the Treasurer-Controller department. After retiring, she took on her most cherished role, that of “Nana” to her twelve grandchildren.

Community was very important to Anne. She was a devoted parishioner of Holy Name Church and rarely missed the four o’clock mass on Saturday. She also loved working the polls during election season to catch up with friends and neighbors. In recent years, she was a member at the Julia Ruth House in Westwood, where she impressed everyone with her skills at trivia and word games.

Anne is survived by her children; Teresa Conroy of Atlanta, Georgia; John M. Conroy and his wife Kelli of Norwood; Jean and husband Michael Donovan of Roslindale; Christine and husband Peter Lewis of Westwood; and Clare and husband Neil Martin of Westwood. She is survived by her grandchildren; Alana, Grace, Coleman, and Declan Donovan; Logan, Nolan, and Bridget Lewis; Joseph and Cameron Conroy; and Luke, Lila, and Kyle Martin. She is also survived by many extended family members on the Conroy and McLellan sides of the family.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Nora and John McLellan; and her siblings John, Thomas, and Allan McLellan.

If you would like to remember Anne, please consider a donation in her memory to the Julia Ruth House, 199 Canton Street, Westwood, MA 02090.
