Ann Welch Obituary

Ann Catherine Welch (Murray), 90 of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. She was born on September 18, 1934, to the late Clement and Antonette Murray. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ronald Welch.

Ann is survived by two of her four children, daughter Laura Healey and her husband John Healey of Naples, Florida, and daughter Jeanne Keane of Franklin, Massachusetts. She is predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Reid and son Richard Welch. One of three children, Ann is survived by her brother Bruce & his wife Andrea Murray, and her sister Karen & her husband Robert Barron. Ann was a proud grandmother (“Nannie”) and will be greatly missed by her four grandchildren, Melissa Skenderian, Ryan Healey, James Keane and Michael Keane. Ann was also recently promoted to great grandmother to Bennett Tucker Skenderian.

Coming from a large Italian family, Ann loved to host holiday gatherings that included multiple courses and food comas. Her late husband, who adored everything that she cooked, would always say “I’ve died and gone to heaven” after just one bite. She was a domestic engineer by trade, raising four children and running a household until 1982, when she decided she wanted to change careers. Ann worked for Jordan Marsh/Macy’s in Brockton until she retired in 2006, where she was the jack of all trades and a master of sales. Ann would clean out a fitting room in record time and provide top notch customer service to all who came to her register or department. She also lived for a bargain and her closets, and well-dressed grandchildren, were proof of that.

Ann was an individual who appreciated the simple things in life. She loved a glass (or three) of Carlos Rossi Blush wine, in her pajamas, reading a good book. She also could have been hired to protect the entire city of Brockton with her expert neighborhood watch skills. Ann’s ability to move from window to window with stealthiness and agility was impressive and appreciated by all who knew that she was keeping an eye on the comings and goings of Brian Drive.

Ann may have been the most introverted introvert that has walked this earth. When she loved you, she LOVED you…but, if she didn’t like you, watch out for those eye rolls. Sassy, stubborn and opinionated was the only way she rolled, and no one would have changed that for the world.

Unfortunately, Ann was diagnosed with dementia in 2021 and went to live at the Enclave of Franklin to ensure she received the best care. Surprisingly, she was one of the best-behaved patients in memory care and was loved by all, nurses and staff alike. She is now at peace, and her family prays that she is sitting in heaven in her pajamas, drinking a glass of wine and enjoying a good book. Ann will be forever missed and spoken about fondly by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the Dementia Society of America.
