Alfred Nesti Obituary

Alfred Joseph Nesti, 79, beloved father, coach, and veteran, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury. He will be missed by all who knew his generosity and unwavering kindness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone whose lives he touched.

Al was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on June 1, 1945. He graduated from the State College of North Adams and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to attend Boston University and graduated with a Masters degree in Education. Al proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. During his service, he earned five honors for his bravery and dedication. His time in the military was a source of great pride, and he carried the values of discipline, leadership, and selflessness throughout his life.

Al was a devoted father who loved spending time with his daughter every chance he could. He enjoyed playing sports like volleyball, soccer, and softball, and was actively involved in promoting community health by teaching CPR along with various health-related certifications. He had an abiding love for the ocean, an appreciation for art, and a passion for helping others. He dedicated many years to teaching and coaching at King Philip High School in Wrentham. After moving to Florida, he continued his commitment to mentoring others as an instructor and coach at A.C.T.S. and Transformations, as well as serving as a personal trainer at Family Fitness in Dunedin.  He will be remembered for his dedication to helping individuals struggling with addiction achieve remission and find their path to recovery.

Al is survived by his beloved daughter, Courtney Nesti; his former wife, Michele Houser; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Patricia Nesti; his brother, Robert Nesti, and his two nieces, Patricia Nesti and Ann Guiffrida. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred P. and Antoinette L. Nesti.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the professionals at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury for providing the utmost compassionate care and support. We’d also like to thank the professionals at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home for providing invaluable service and guiding us through this difficult time with kindness and sensitivity.
