Obituary

TIMOTHY JOSEPH MORRIS – 1954-2023

Timothy Joseph Morris of Roslindale, Massachusetts, beloved son of Caroline Bradley Morris (formerly Way, deceased) and Thomas Robert Morris (deceased) passed quietly at Season's Hospice in Milton, MA on September 28, 2023.

Born in Albany New York on May 29, 1954, Tim is survived by his five loving siblings and their spouses: Catherine T. Elbaum and her husband, Mark Elbaum; Mark F. Morris and his wife, Ying Duan; Stephen A. Morris and his wife, Linda Morris; John T. Morris and his wife, Elizabeth McQuerry; Ruth Morris and her husband, Peter Kelly. Tim is also survived by his seven nieces and nephews Gregory Morris, Andrew Morris, Kaitlyn Morris, Caroline Elbaum, Peter Elbaum, Annika Morris-Kelly, and Elena Morris-Kelly and his two grand nieces, Emma Morris and Ava Carroll and two grand nephews, Liam Carroll and August York.

Tim attended Sacred Heart School in Roslindale and Boston Latin School for junior high and high school, graduating in 1972. He studied theater at Syracuse University without completing his degree there. Years later, after returning to Boston from Los Angeles, he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Boston University.

Tim worked in a variety of professions over the decades, including bartender, chef, retail manager, shift supervisor at the Boston area New Balance plant, and student loan counselor. His true passion was for the performing arts, writing and literature. He was an avid reader and worked for several years in his early career in Boston's Sack Theaters. In 1988 Tim moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of working in the television and film industry. There he found work as an archivist for Warner Brothers Studios, sorting, documenting and maintaining the studio's vast collection of film, still photographs, and historic promotional materials. When not curating the studio's collections, Tim pursued his passion for screenwriting. Though his scripts were not picked up by production companies, he still found enjoyment as a studio archivist.

Tim's other interests included hiking the trails around Los Angeles and weightlifting and bodybuilding.

Tim returned to live in Boston in 2007 where he found employment as a student loan counselor to assist borrowers in restructuring their debt and establish a manageable financial plan.

Tim was intellectually curious, creative, passionate, independently minded, and often opinionated, this last trait inherited from his mother Caroline and shared by all his siblings. As a teenager he had piles of books strewn about the floor of the bedroom he shared with his three brothers. Titles and topics of the books were wide ranging and often provocative, certainly for the era. Gulag Archipelago, Coffee Tea or Me, The Go Between, All Quiet on the Western Front, to name just a few. Society, politics, psychology, history, and humanities were all included in the broad scope of his curiosity and inquiry. His literary passion, quick and sardonic wit, and critical but caring nature strongly influenced his five siblings and other friends and family. He was especially close to his mother Caroline, with whom he shared regular evenings out at the movies, theater or just dinner and drinks in downtown Boston.

Tim was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He lives on in our hearts and in ourselves.

Services and interment will be held in private.

Donations in Tim's honor may be made to Fenway Health at 1340 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02215 or at https://fenwayhealth.org/help/ways-to-give/.
