Obituary

Stephen Alfred Perron (Steve) from Boston, MA, passed away peacefully at home in Hyde Park at the age of 76 on July 1, 2023. Steve leaves behind his beautiful wife, Linda D. (Glennon). Loving father to Michelle and Stephen, and grandfather to Emily. He also leaves behind his four sisters, Joanna Perron, Eunice Cadorette and her husband John, Dorothy Furgason and her husband Chuck, Maryann Amara and her husband Joe, as well as his in-laws Carol Ann and James Lawless, Paul and Katrina Glennon, Bill Glennon and Ann-Marie Pullen. He was extremely proud of his many nieces and nephews and could never resist dancing up a storm with them at family weddings.

Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Steve was the only son of the late  Leon and Dorothy (Perry) Perron. He adored and loved to brag about his four younger sisters. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas, The Mary E. Curley, and J.P. High. Steve was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force from 1966-1970. After returning home, he worked for Boston Gas Company. Soon after, he met his wife, Linda. They were married for 52 years.

Steve was extremely smart and creative. He had a quick wit, an amazing memory, a contagious laugh, a terrible singing voice (not that that stopped him), and a gift for gab. He loved taking photographs, gardening, telling stories, was an avid reader, a talented writer, and collector of all things (baseball cards, comic books, toys, random treasures, you name it!). Most of all, he loved music and his collection of vinyl records. Every other Saturday night, you would find him with an uncle or two, playing disc jockey, enjoying his wine, and singing along. Alternate Saturday nights were reserved for Linda. There was still music, but on those nights, there would also be dancing.

Steve loved to tell stories. He would tell about playing stickball with neighborhood kids in Jamaica Plain, being an Altar boy at St. Thomas, working as a soda jerk at Liggetts, selling souvenirs at Fenway, and making Uncle Jim laugh so hard that he spit out his milk at lunch, spraying it everywhere because he was wearing braces. He would talk about growing up on Spaulding Street and needing to watch out for four pretty sisters. He had many stories from his time in the service, from Oklahoma and Route 66 to Thailand, and how he and Uncle Chuck got into some mischief at a swimming pool one night. That was definitely a favorite of his.

Steve was a wonderful dad to Michelle and Steve. Summers on the Cape or Lake George, coaching Little League, sharing his love for literature, sports, and music, family game nights and get togethers, The Secret Explorers Club (which even has its own handshake), driving at "Warp Speed" in the Millenium Mustang, and so much more. This obituary doesn't have the space to share all we would like to, but we know Steve is looking down on all of us and sharing his stories with anyone willing to listen. We will continue to retell the stories he told, as well as ours of him, as he lives on in our hearts eternally.
