Stephen
Mclaughlin
February 24, 1933 – June 13, 2024
Dr. Stephen Vincent McLaughlin, age 91, beloved husband, brother and father, of Weston, Massachusetts, left us for Heaven on June 13, 2024.
Stephen grew up in Roxbury, MA, the son of Francis and Nora McLaughlin. He attained a bachelor's degree in biology from Boston University and dental and periodontology graduate degrees from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, Dr. McLaughlin practiced dentistry and periodontics for almost sixty years in the West Roxbury and Leominster communities and inspired three of his children to also become dentists. Claiming he would never retire, he continued to see patients until very recently.
If you were to ask him about his true passion, he would say it was his family (followed by plants, sharing historical facts, travel, dispensing life advice and the nightly news). His ten children, following his philoprogenitive lead, have so far produced sixty-seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his children, Carol Jean McLaughlin, his son, Conor McGregor McLaughlin and his brother James McLaughlin.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Maria Agnes McLaughlin of Weston, MA and his children, Sean and Laura McLaughlin of Anchorage, AK; Caitlin McLaughlin and Kevin Barnhill of Naples, FL; Brendan and Suzanne McLaughlin of West Roxbury, MA; Cara and Timothy Gavin of Weston, MA; Meghan Wasinger of Fairfax Station, VA; Stephen McLaughlin of Wayland, MA; Kelley McLaughlin of Hudson, MA; Ian McLaughlin of West Roxbury, MA; Kathleen McLaughlin of Framingham, MA; Alana and Peter Keefe of Walpole, MA and Austin and Nina McLaughlin of Sarasota, FL. He will also be missed by his siblings, Francis of West Roxbury, MA; Eugene of Dorchester, MA; Richard of Northborough, MA; Maureen Joyce of Needham, MA; Daniel of Dedham, MA, and Rev. John McLaughlin of Needham and countless nieces and nephews.
