Obituary

Roger Gaudreau

August 7, 1945 – February 18, 2023

Roger Gaudreau passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born to the late Jean Baptiste and Marie Louise (Arsenault) Gaudreau in Fall River, MA on August 7, 1945.  Having been born late in his parents' lives, he was doted on by his two older sisters, Rose and Jeanne, and older brother, Leo. A graduate of what is now the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Roger held many positions throughout his career in retail, sales, and insurance and ultimately become a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 28 years until his retirement. A devoted husband and beloved father, he was an avid reader, a mean cribbage player, and a lover of trivia and crosswords.  Roger was also an ardent sports fan and could be found on many a Sunday watching his favorite team, the New England Patriots, either at home or at Gillette Stadium where he was a proud season ticket holder for many years.

Roger is preceded in death by his cherished wife of 44 years, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Gaudreau (Roche), his brother Leo Gaudreau, sister Rose Viveiros, and grandson Gerhard Aaron Hummelt.

He is survived by his children: Roger Alix-Gaudreau (and wife Katherine) of Massachusetts, Florence Michelle Clark (and husband Earl) of Florida, William Gaudreau of Oregon, and Stephanie Gaudreau (and wife Rebecca Rosenberg) of Maryland. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Daily Hummelt, Brittanie Clark, and Eli Rosenberg.  His sister, Jeanne Ouellette, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home (1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury) during the visiting hours on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

"There is no light without a dawning

No winter without a spring

And beyond the dark horizon

Our hearts will once more sing.

For those who leave us for a while

Have only gone away

Out of a restless, care worn world

Into a brighter day."
