Healy, Nora Bernadette, passed away on August 9, 2022 after a brief illness at age 70. She was born in Dunmore, County Galway, Ireland, daughter of Edward and Julia Healy. Known as Bernie by her family and friends. She was the beloved aunt and great aunt to her family. She was known for her love of international travel, generosity, kindness and most importantly her family. Bernie worked for over 40 years for the Boston Redevelopment Authority until she retired to care for her grand nephews. An avid gardener and bird watcher, her yard brought joy to all those who passed by it.
Bernie was predeceased by her brothers Thomas, James, Eamon and Richard; her sister Josephine; and nephew Edward (Ted) Healy and niece Denise Healy.
She is survived by her sister Mary O' Connor of Boston and brother Vincent Healy of Dunmore, Ireland. Bernie was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Thomas Healy, Brian Healy, AnnMarie Little, James O'Connor, John O'Connor, Megan Alvis, Siobhan Lennon, Brendan Healy, Kathryn Elliffe, Molly Healy, Elizabeth McGovern and Edward Healy, as well as many great nieces and nephews to whom she devoted much of her time.
She was a lifelong secular member of the Third Order of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. St. Francis wrote, "Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received – only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage." Bernie quietly lived her life giving to others and sharing in the joy and abundance of God's gifts.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA, on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2022, from 9:00-11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Chrysostom Parish, 4750 Washington Street, at 11:30 am.Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 990 Lagrange Street. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 617-323-5600
