Michael A
Nowak
August 16, 1953 – April 6, 2020
Michael Andrew Nowak, age 66, passed away of natural causes, the evening of Monday, 6 April 2020, under the great care of the VA Hospital, in West Roxbury, MA. Michael was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Medford, with his seven other siblings. He is predeceased by his mother, Kathleen Ann, father, Stanley, and brother Stanley Richard (Dicky) Nowak. Michael was honored to be a Navy Veteran who served from 1973-76, during the Vietnam War. Starting at a young age, he was a talented musician, and became a proud graduate of Berklee School of Music, in Boston, MA. He played the trumpet, piano, and percussion (most specifically the congas), and was known, to his close friends, as "Mikey Bongos." Michael was a boom operator for news television, and in his later years turned to professional painting. He was pleased to be part of the team which painted Fenway Park. He was a fantastic storyteller, with a great memory and sense of humor. Michael will be dearly missed by his two daughters Briana and Charlotte; by his remaining siblings, Kathleen, Elizabeth, Mary-Louise, Helen, Joseph, and Margaret; and by his many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a private burial, next week, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne. A more proper memorial service will take place when the time and gathering is allotted.
