Maryanne (Shearns) Norton
Maryanne passed away peacefully June 30 surrounded by family in the comfort of her home with a view of her beautiful gardens. She was born and raised in the Mission Hill section of Boston. A true Mission Hill girl, she formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Beloved wife of the late Frank Norton. Loving mother of Lauren Gill and her husband Chris of Norton and William Turke, Jr. of Readville. Beloved Nanie of Erin Gill of East Boston, Ryan Gill and Nicholas Gill of Norton.
Loving sister of Susan Bruno, Peggy Clark, Kathy Jolley, Michael Shearns and Bernadette Cunningham. And the late John Shearns and Joan Sweeney. .Dear Aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Graduate of Mission High School, Class of 1961. Maryanne built a career as an office administrator at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and later as a Billing administrator at several Boston medical centers.
She had many interests, including baking, knitting, gardening, cooking, quilting and Ceili Dancing with the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. She attended all of her grandchildren’s sports, recitals, plays and took each of them on a trip to Washington, D.C. She loved to travel to Ireland and visit family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Mission Church, 1545 Tremont St. Boston on Thursday July 9, at 10:00 am. Please go directly to the Mission Church. Visiting hours in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday July 8, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to The Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston 02120. If sending flowers, please no lilies due to a family allergy.
