Mary Valardi Murphy, of West Roxbury, died on October 9, 2022, at the age of 95. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years Joseph R. Murphy (Ret. Boston Police Officer). Beloved mother of Patricia Murphy Campbell and her husband Andrew of Beverly Farms, and Timothy Murphy and his wife Patricia of Monroe, CT. Loving grandmother of Douglas, Kevin and Garrett Campbell and William, Penelope and Caroline Murphy.  Loving great-grandmother of Christian and Hailey Campbell.

Mary grew up in western Massachusetts (Hardwick and Wheelwright), daughter of the late Margaret and John Valardi.

She moved to Boston to attend Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1947. She went on to serve as an operating nurse and supervisor at Boston City Hospital for over 20 years.

Mary was an avid patron of the arts.  She attended art classes for many years with the West Roxbury Art Association where she produced many notable paintings that are cherished by family and friends.

Mary served the St Theresa's parish community as a member of the Theresian's where she held many roles over the years including president.

She was a passionate sports fan her entire life and enthusiastically followed all levels of Boston sports, especially her beloved Red Sox.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 12, at 11:00 am in St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury. Visiting hours in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial on Thursday October 13, at 10:45 am in The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
