Mary L. McDonald (O’Brien) “Marylou”

Born in Boston, December 19, 1942. From Dedham

Mary L. McDonald (O’Brien), affectionately known as “Marylou,” passed away peacefully on August 22nd, surrounded by her loving family during the final days of her life.

Marylou was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her family deeply. She leaves behind her daughters, Joanne Rahilly and her life partner, Robert LaRosee, of Bellingham; Karen Bloom and her husband, Jeffrey, of Bellingham; Debra Maida and her husband, Anthony, of Dedham; and her son, Keith McDonald and his wife, Nancie, of Wrentham. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Lawrence McDonald.

Marylou was a cherished grandmother, lovingly known by her grandchildren as “The Nana.” She leaves behind Danielle Barrows and her husband, Naaman; John Maida; Michael Rahilly and his wife, Jessica; Cameron Rahilly and his wife, Alison; Rachel Bloom; and Patrick McDonald. Each held a special and unique bond with Marylou, and the love and memories they shared with her will remain in their hearts forever.

She was a loving sister to Daniel O’Brien, Barbara O’Brien, Noreen O’Brien, and Nancy Muse and her husband, Robert. Marylou was predeceased by her parents, Bartholomew and Louise O’Brien, and her brothers, John and Gerard O’Brien.

Marylou will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they made with her.

Above all, Marylou will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and for the special, individual relationships she built with so many people throughout her life. She had a unique bond with each member of her family, creating memories and moments that will never be forgotten. Her warmth, generosity, and love will live on through the many lives she touched.

Visiting hours will be held at Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home on Saturday , August 29th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dedham Council on Aging/Meals on Wheels, 450 Washington Street, Dedham, MA 02026, where Marylou volunteered for many years.

Marylou’s greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be remembered, missed, and loved always
